iPad 2 UK Sold Out Within 24 Hours

The iPad 2 went on sale in the UK last Friday, you could either order it online from 1am or purchase it from an Apple Store or an authorised retailer from 5pm on Friday afternoon.

When the Apple Store online started selling the iPad 2, the store went offline briefly and many customers had trouble ordering the iPad 2, and the next day the shipping times of the iPad 2 were 3 to 4 weeks.

Nintendo 3DS Owners Reporting Black Screen Of Death

The Nintendo 3DS went on sale in the UK last Friday and in the US over the weekend, and now it seems that some 3DS owners are reporting problems with Nintendo’s new handheld 3D console.

The guys over at GoNintendo even experienced the issue, and you can see what the so called ‘black screen of death’ looks like in the second photo below, and a number of other 3DS owners have also reported the problem.

Metacritic Begins To Score Developers

Metacritic the popular review and scoring website that collates reviews of music albums, games, movies, TV shows and DVDs, calculating a score out of 100 for each item, has now started rating game developers. Metacritic has now begun to provide listings of specific individuals credited for a games development on their site, then gives each developer an average percentage score for their career.

Android Quickoffice Pro Receives Cloud Storage

Quickoffice has released a new update to Quickoffice Pro for Android available on devices running Gingerbread, Froyo and Éclair (2.0-2.3). The new update brings with it new editing features together with faster file loading, scrolling and zooming, integrated contextual search, text-to-speech via Google PDF viewing, together with performance improvements throughout the application.

The update has now also added cloud storage options with integration with accounts on Box.net, Google Docs, Dropbox, Huddle, SugarSync and MobileMe, allowing you to keep your data safe and synced to use on any number of other devices.

CCP Games Bringing MMO And FPS Combining EVE And Dust 514 (video)

CCP Games the creator of EVE Online have released a conceptual trailer to show their ideas for the future of Eve Online which may combine with Dust 514 a first person shooter style game, which will work together to mould the huge online world.

HTC Flyer Headed To T-Mobile

Last week we saw a new version of the HTC Flyer for the US, the HTC EVO View, which is a WiMAX enabled version of the Flyer that will be available with mobile operator Sprint in the US.

Now it looks like the HTC Flyer will also be headed to another mobile network in the US, T-Mobile and it is expected to hit T-Mobile some time this summer.

Pioneer Launch New Noise Cancelling Earbud Headphones

I have always enjoy wearing my full ear cup noise cancelling headphones, but sometimes they can be a little large for certain situations. If you find the same or are looking for a small pair of noise cancelling earbud headphones, Pioneer have just released a new addition to their range in the form of their new SE-NC31C-K.

The SE-NC31C-K are capable of removing up to 90% of ambient noise, the noise reduction can be turned off  if required, but will still allow you to listen to your audio. They are also equipped with a “Monitor” button that mutes the music and turns off noise-cancellation quickly so that you can hear the sounds around you when needed.

Amazon Android App Store Lets You Try Before You Buy

Amazon have started rolling out a new feature to their Android App Store that now allows you to try applications before you buy. The new feature called ‘Test Drive’ is an online emulator that allows you to try the Android app within the browser. Giving Amazon another point against Google’s Android Market which doesn’t have a try before you buy services at the moment.

The new ‘Test Drive’ feature is only available to users in the US at the moment and does have a few restrictions as to what can and cant be carried out within the testing feature. The service is also not currently available on every app in the Amazon App Store but is available on a few hundred apps and more are being added daily.

Apple’s WWDC June 6th 2011, iPhone 5 To be Announced In June?

Apple has officially confirmed the dates for the 2011 World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC), and WWDC 2011 will take place from the 6th of June 2011 to the 10th of June 2011 at San Francisco’s Moscone West.

Apple are expected to unveil a range of things at this years WWDC which include the new iPhone 5, but it looks like we will also see some exciting stuff for Apple’s iOS and also Mac OS X.

HTC Thunderbolt Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Coming In Spring

The HTC Thunderbolt went on sale a couple of weeks ago in the US, and now it looks like the Thunderbolt could be getting updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread sooner than later.

According to Droid Life, who received a copy of an email that was sent to one of their readers, HTC have been telling customers that the Thunderbolt will be getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread some time in quarter 2.

LG Optimus Big With 4.3 Inch NOVA Display Gets Pictured

It looks like LG may have a new device planned for its Optimus range, this new smartphone has been codenamed the LG Optimus Big, and as the name suggests it will feature a 4.3 inch display.

The Display will apparently use LG’s NOVA display technology, which is found in the smaller LG Optimus Black, and it will apparently launch in Korea next month.

New MobileMe Coming April, To Cost $20 A Year?

We had previously told you that Apple is working on a new version of MobileMe, which is rumored to launch some time in April, and the last thing we heard was that Apple would make MobileMe a free service.

Now according to a report from The Music Void, Apple will still possibly charge for their MobileMe service, but the annual subscription cost will be a lot cheaper at $20 per year.

Real-Life Tron Lightcycle Creators Build Green Machine With Harley-Davidson Evo Engine

Parker Brothers Custom Choppers the team that brought you the real-life Tron Lightcycle have now recreated the children’s Green Machine cart toy as a real-life vehicle fitted with a Harley-Davidson Evo Engine.

The man sized Green Machine is also fitted with a 45 inch front wheel for which Parker Brothers have contacted the Guinness Book of Records for the worlds largest wheel on a motorcycle. Even the driving mechanism on the larger Green Machine works in the same way as on its toy brother, pictured after the jump.

Google Working With Mastercard And Citigroup On NFC Payments

We already know that Google has been working on a Near Field Communications (NFC) payment system, we recently saw the launch of Google’s new Smartphone which features NFC built in the Google Nexus S.

Now the WSJ are reporting that Google is working with MasterCard and also Citigroup on NFC payments, and according to the report the payment system would let customers who use Citigroup debit cards to pay for things via NFC with an NFC enabled mobile application on their smartphone.

Firefox 4 Browser Jumps to 5 Percent Global Usage Share

With downloads of Mozilla’s new Firefox 4 browser now approaching 40 million downloads since it was released last Tuesday. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see it now jump in to a global usage share of around 5 percent, leaving Microsoft’s new IE9 down in a pitiful 1.5 percent share.

Even though the release of Microsofts IE9 launch was backed by the biggest advertising campaigns the company has ever seen in recent history, you can already see the huge surge of Firefox 4 from its launch day release.

Samsung Galaxy S Official Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Leaked

Samsung are due to release the official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S shortly, if you can not wait until then it now looks like the official Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy S has been leaked.

The guys over at the XDA Developers Forum have posted details on the leaked update, and it seems to be the official version that Samsung will make available for the Galaxy S via their KIES software.

Crysis 2 PC Update Removes Auto Aim Adds Cheat Protection

If you are a Crysis 2 PC gamers you might be pleased to hear that the latest update rolled -out, now patches a few issues experienced by PC players within multiplayer gaming including a new cheat protection that has been designed to ensure all multiplayer users are now on a level playing field.

Another much welcomed feature, for most players, is the removal of the ‘Auto Aim’ feature that made its way into the final release of the game. This has now been removed and forces your character to rely on your gaming skills rather than an automatic targeting system.

Buffalo Unveils BDXL Portable Blu-ray Burner

Buffalo has released details of it new Blu-ray writer equipped with the BDXL standard allowing you to use 100GB and 128GB disks if required and is able to store up to 100 GB on three layers and 128 GB on four. The BDXL Portable Blu-ray burner is fitted with two USB 2.0 connections that allows a burning speed of 4 x when you use both or just 2 x when only using on USB connection to your computer.

O2 Delaying Xperia Play Launch Due To Bugs

The new Sony Ericsson Xperia play is due to go on sale in the UK shortly, mobile operator O2 has an exclusive deal with Sony Ericsson to sell a white version of the Xperia Play.

Now O2 has announced on their blog that they will be delaying the launch of the Xperia play on their network here in the UK, and the reason they have given is due to a number of bugs they have found whilst testing the Xperia Play.

Bing Search Receives Social Networking Integration

Microsoft has rolled out new updates to its Bing search engine which now allows the search site to integrate with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Real-time twitter updates are now available from the Bing search site together with with a new features that allows users to instantly shared pages to Facebook when the user is signed in to both sites.

GameLoft Signs Exclusivity Deal With Amazon For Its Android Games

GameLoft has announced that is has signed a exclusivity deal with Amazon’s new App Store, for it to exclusively sell GameLoft’s Android gaming titles. GameLoft has explained their exclusivity deal with Amazon is mainly due to the recent malware problems which has afflicted the Android Marketplace.

With GameLoft looking for a safe way to distribute its titles to Android gamers, but also expressing that Amazon’s DRM was also another reason why they made the choice to go with Amazon App Store exclusivity.

Google Working On A Nexus Android Honeycomb Tablet

Google recently released their second Google branded smartphone, the Google Nexus S, and now it looks like the company may be working on their own Google branded tablet.

According to Mobile Review, the Google ‘Nexus’ tablet is being developed by LG for Google, and it will come with the same Nexus branding as Google’s own Android smartphone.

Apple iOS 5 To Launch In The Fall?

Apple usually launches the next major update to iOS at the same time as it launches the iPhone 5, which we are expecting to be unveiled in June or July of this year.

TechCrunch are reporting that we may not see iOS 5 launching until the Fall of 2011, which would either mean that it will not launch at the same time as the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 5 launch will be in the Fall.

iPad And iPad 2 CF Card Reader (Video)

Apple has an official camera connection kit for the iPad and iPad 2 that lets you transfer photos and videos from SD cards and also lets you connect your camera to your iPad.

Now the guys over at MIC gadget have a new card reader for the iPad 2 that will read CF cards, which could be great for professional photographers who use cameras like the the Nikon D3s and the Canon 5D Mark II.

Condor PlayStation 3 Supercomputer Now Online

We have heard previously about supercomputers built using Sony’s PlayStation 3, and now one built by the Air Force, called Condor has now gone online and is fully operational, it was developer by Rome Labs for the Air Force.

Condor is built from a total of 1,716 PS3s, and has cost the Air Force a lot less to build than if they had built a custom supercomputer from scratch, but this PS3 supercomputer is as fast as some of the world’s most expensive ones and is now in the top 40 fastest supercomputers in the world.

Angry Birds The Movie (Video)

Angry birds has become one of the most popular mobile games, and not doubt some time in the future we will see an Angry Birds movie, until then they guys over at Rooster Teeth have created this fun spoof trailer for Angry Birds the movie.

We suspect that the real Angry Birds movie will not be anything like this one in the trailer if it is released, which is probably a good thing.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3.1 Software Update

Apple has released a new update to its iOS software for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, the latest version is iOS 4.3.1 and a brings a range of improvements and bugs fixes to Apple’s mobile operating system.

The iOS 4.3.1 update is designed to fix a graphics bug with the fourth generation iPod Touch, and it also resolves a bug which is related to activating and connecting the iPhone on some mobile networks.

Judge Says Apple Did Not Infringe On Nokia Patents

Nokia and Apple have been suing each other since last year, the lawsuits relate to a number of patents for Nokia mobile devices and also patents for Apple’s iPhone.

The International Trade Commission has been looking into both companies claims, and one judge has made a ruling on Nokia’s claim that Apple has infringed on five of Nokia’s patents.
