WiFi Samsung Galaxy Tab Priced at £299 Posted: 30 Mar 2011 08:27 AM PDT Samsung recently announced range of new tablets in the Galaxy Tab range, we saw the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9, we were expecting Samsung to launch a WiFi only version of the original Galaxy Tab at the end of last year, and it has now turned up on Amazon and is available to pre-order for £299. The WiFi Galaxy Tab comes with a 7 inch touchscreen display, with Android 2.2 Froyo, there is also a three megapixel camera on the back and a front facing VGA camera for video chat. FTC Charges Google With Deceptive Privacy Practices For Google Buzz Posted: 30 Mar 2011 07:48 AM PDT Google came under quite a bit of criticism for the way they launched their Google Buzz service, and we heard previously that they had settled a lawsuit. Now the FTC has ruled that Google used deceptive privacy practices when Google Buzz was launched. Google and the FTC have come to an agreement and Google has agreed to implement a comprehensive privacy program, and also agreed to regular privacy audits for the next 20 years. Battlefield 3 : Fault Line Episode 3 : Get that Wire Cut Posted: 30 Mar 2011 07:09 AM PDT EA has today released the third part of the Fault Line Episodes teaser videos, called ‘Get the Wire Cut’. The video shows a large battle ongoing within the streets and a glimpse of some of the other tasks you are going to be asked to accomplish within the game. In a recent interview DICE GM Karl Troedsson has revealed to a Games.on.net that the new Battlefield 3 campaign when finally released will take roughly 12 hours to complete. Star Wars Blu-ray Editions Arriving On September 16th 2011 Posted: 30 Mar 2011 06:57 AM PDT Whats looks to be now a firm a date has now been released for the launch of the Star Wars complete saga launch on Blu-ray. It was originally thought to be towards the end of September but now looks to be arriving on the September 16th a few days earlier. For the first time in the films history, all six of George Lucas’ epic films, Episodes I-VI will now be finally combined in to one complete set. Three version of the Star Wars Blu-ray collection will be available. One with all six titles and then two other editions, the first three movies in on and then the final 3 three in another separate box sets. Watch a teaser video after the jump. Their new silent mouse creation has been under development for the last 4 years and is now ready to be released to the public. You would think creating a silent clicking mouse would be a fairly simple affair but as Nexus discovered, its not as easy as one thinks. Researchers Develop New Flex Touchscreen Interface (Video) Posted: 30 Mar 2011 06:38 AM PDT Researchers at the Osaka University in Japan have developed a new flexible touchscreen interface, and the interface flexes whatever is on the screen when you move you hand or fingers over the display. What this does is make some of the content on the screen distorted, and enables you to scroll and view more content on the display and then zoom into the particular section you want to look at. The researchers tested this new touchscreen display technology with Google maps, and you can see it in action in the video below. Tesla Sues Top Gear And The BBC Posted: 30 Mar 2011 05:58 AM PDT Tesla has decided to sue the BBC and the motoring program Top Gear, and have issued a press release explaining there reason for suing the BBC. It all comes from a 2008 episode of Top Gear, where Jeremy Clarkson was testing the Tesla Roadster, and he gave it a bit of a hard time. Tesla have said that the claims made in the BBC program were false, and that some of the things featured in the show were actually made up. Gigabyte Release 32Bit Utility To Unlock 3TB And Higher Drives Posted: 30 Mar 2011 05:45 AM PDT If you use or have an older 32bit computer system that is currently restricted to using only 2.19 TB of its hard drive capacity. You will be pleased to know if you have a Gigabyte motherboard installed in the system you can now use a new unlocking utility released by Gigabyte to increase the storage capacity to 3TB and above. Saving you the need to upgrade the system to 64bit. The Gigabyte 3TB+ Unlock Utility allows Gigabyte motherboards without Hybrid EFI to recognise and use unallocated space allowing a virtual drive to be created with storage over and above the restrictive 2.19TB.

The Real Price Of A Nintendo 3DS Unveiled By iSuppli Posted: 30 Mar 2011 05:34 AM PDT Have you wondered how much a Nintendo 3DS actually costs in parts to put together? Well the team over at iSuppli have been kind enough to calculate the component costs of the highly anticipated 3D gaming pocket console. The calculations have been carried out by stripping down a Japanese 3DS device. According to the final total there are $103.25 for parts and production costs, compared to a retail cost of $249.99 in the United States. A breakdown of the costs are listed after the jump.

UK Retailer Buys Nintendo 3DS Consoles From Competitor To Sell To Customers Posted: 30 Mar 2011 05:06 AM PDT The Nintendo 3DS console went on sale in the UK last week, with a number of supermarkets here in the UK selling it at a discounted price, which ended up being cheaper than many specialist game retailers. It seems that one UK retailer, though it was a good idea to send their employees out to the local supermarket to purchase as many 3DS consoles as they could so they could sell them to their customers, according to a leaked internal document obtained by Euro Gamer. iPad 2 Radio Teardown Compares WiFi, GSM, And CDMA Versions Posted: 30 Mar 2011 04:54 AM PDT The team over at iFixit has been at it again, and stripped Apple’s new iPad 2 down to its bare bones, to compare the radio technology used in the different version of the iPad 2. Below the main boards are compared each boards looks identical on the right hand side, but the top ones is equipped with a Toshiba chip on the left while the other two use Samsung. The bottom two boards are also CDMA and GSM versions which are equipped with extra chips and technology on the left had side of the boards, to provide the communication from the CDMA and GSM.

Nintendo Claims 3DS Has Best First Day Handheld Console Sales Posted: 30 Mar 2011 04:43 AM PDT The new Nintendo 3DS went on sale in Europe and the US recently, and now Nintendo is claiming that the first day sales of the 3DS are the highest of any Nintendo handheld system, although they haven’t as yet provided any actual sales figures. Keyglove An Arduino/AVR-Powered Glove Replaces The Keyboard Posted: 30 Mar 2011 02:53 AM PDT Keyglove is a new concept currently looking to make the jump from conceptual idea into production on the Kickstarter website. It consists of a open-source portable Arduino/AVR-powered glove that uses touch combinations (for keys) and an accelerometer (for the mouse). Removing the need to use the traditional QWERTY keyboard and mouse combination. The basic concept of the Keyglove is to generate input signals by touching conductive sensors together in unique combinations to create the characters required. The sensors are mounted on the fingers and palm of the glove which is thin and light, and has been designed to allow the user to preform other activities, such as writing without being in the way. Verizon 4G LTE Modem Arriving Tomorrow Posted: 30 Mar 2011 01:22 AM PDT Tomorrow Verizon will be shipping their new Verizon 4G LTE Modem USB551L to both their high street stores and from their online shop. The Verizon 4G LTE Modem can provide download speeds from 5 – 12 Mbps with uploads between 2-5 Mbps. Created by Novatel the USB551L modem is reportedly the smallest LTE USB modem currently available, according to its makers, and is around 50 percent smaller than other LTE modems on the market.

HTC Thunderbolt Overclocked To 1.8GHz Posted: 30 Mar 2011 12:35 AM PDT The HTC Thunderbolt went on sale in the US recently, it features a 1GHz processor, which has been overclocked to a massive 1.8GHz by Derek Rodriguez, with a kernel he put together which enables the Thundebolt to be overclocked. According to Major Nelson, Microsoft is poised to try out a new Xbox 360 disc format and is asking for beta testers. Of course, this raises a whole fleet of questions, many of them containing the words “Blu-Ray”, as well as some painful memories for people who still wipe the dust off their HD-DVD players every day because they just didn’t have the heart to unplug that thing and sell it for the 50p it’s worth.
