New standards were announced Thursday for home theater setups by the Consumer Electronics Association (News - Alert) (CEA) and the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) R10 Residential Systems committee. The standards are meant to enhance the home theater experience as well as provide the industry with an understanding of the issues related to smart grid devices.
This update to the CEA/CEDIA-CEB23-A: Home Theater Video Design standard will help professionals to better design, install and calibrate home theater systems in order to meet consumers' growing and changing needs, while ensuring their viewing experience meets or exceeds the commercial experience.
Dave Pedigo, CEDIA's senior director of technology, said of the new standards, "A successful home theater experience will realistically reproduce images created by the director and allow the viewer to become fully immersed in the program material.
