Alright, kidding! Kidding! No terrestrial quasi-mythic Nordic entities were responsible for the creation of this handy tool. That was just done to grab attention. But the branding of this novel ice scraper from Quirky is definitely strategic. It was named Thor for a reason–to vanquish the encrusting ice from your car. Okay, fine, so scraping ice doesn’t cut it as an epic task but in this day and age of post-industrial consumerism, epic tasks are best found in video games. (Skyrim!)

Hoodie Gone Wrong: Wookie Fur Chewbacca Furry Zip

Seen below is an awful example of fashion sense gone wrong. (Jeans? he should have gone with furry pants!) As the saying goes, there’s no accounting for taste. Then again, some people might dig walking around in a Wookie Hoodie–and yes, it’s called the Chewbacca Furry Zip. If you are a fan of the Smart Cover which was released by Apple to compliment the iPad 2 when it was launched. You might be interested in this neat TidyTilt cover for your iPhone. Which tries to provide the same sort of features the Smart Cover case brings to the iPad 2 on your iPhone.

The TidyTilt attaches to your iPhone also using magnets but you need to attach a metal strip around the edge of your iPhone first. Classpad Enters Indian Tablet Market To Compete With Budget Aakash Tablet

A new tablet has entered the India tablet market from Classteacher Learning Systems called the Classpad. Which is now looking to give the Aakash $50 budget tablet a little competition. The Aakash has already started well though and has already chalked up 1.4 million pre-orders in just two weeks.

The new Classpad tablet for $140 is priced at nearly three times the cost of the budget Aakash tablet, and can rise to a hefty $265 if you take all the higher specifications.

Nokia Lumia 800 Headed To Sweden And Denmark Later This Month

It looks like Nokia is getting ready to launch their flagship Windows Phone smartphone in some other European countries this month, the device is already available in the UK, Germany Spain, France, Italy an the Netherlands.

Both Denmark and Sweden will get the Nokia Lumia 800 later this month, with the device launching in Denmark on the 20th of January and in Sweden on the 23rd of January.

PostSecret Removes iPhone App From The App Store Due To Threatening Content

PostSecret has removed their iPhone app from Apple’s App Store, after some users of the application decided to post threatening and abusive content using the application.

This has left the developers of the app with the only option or removing the app, as they were unable to moderate all the content posted by the application due to the sheer volume of content submitted, the statement below from Ron Warren, the founder of Post Secret explains why the app was removed.

Eobot Concept Watch

A new watch called the Eobot is currently taking votes over on the Tokyoflash website, hoping to become reality and make it to production. The concept drawn below resembles a robot in shape and has a robotic red eye similar to the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica, which moves back and forth.

To tell the time on the watch the coloured lights are used to display hours and minutes. The first 4 vertical rows of lights indicate the 4-digit time and date and in each row one of the lights is illuminated in either green or blue.

HTC Flyer WiFi Gets Android 3.2 Honeycomb Update

Last month HTC released the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update for their HTC Flyer tablet, the update was only available for the WiFi and 3G version of the HTC Flyer, and now it would appear that the update has now been released for the WiFi only version.

New Olympus Camera Range Expected To Launch Next Month

Olympus is expected to launch a new range of cameras in early February according to rumours that are currently circulating. The new range is expected to be unveiled by Olympus just after this months CES show and may reveal a new line incorporating weatherproof sealing and in-built viewfinders.

Concepts images of the new range have already been circulating the Internet, but no official information about the new range of cameras specifications has been released by Olympus as yet. The image below is a an imaginary Micro Four Thirds camera with build-in viewfinder created by Livedoor.

Nintendo 3DS Hits 4 Million Sales In The US

Nintendo has announced that they have now sold more than 4 million units of their Nintendo 3DS console in the US, since the device went on sale last year, and they also revealed that the 3DS has been a faster seller than the Nintendo Wii was in the first 9 months since the device was launched.

They also released some details for their other consoles, with a total of 3.4 million units of the Nintendo DS being sold in the US in 2011.

Google+ Traffic Increased 55 Percent In December

Google+ is still a long way fro threatening the likes of Facebook, but reports are now confirming that Google+ received its biggest increase in traffic during December last year. Seeing traffic jump a massive 55 percent last month, recording 49 million visits. But to put this in perspective Facebook around half a billion users visit their Facebook account on a daily basis.

Modern Warfare 3 Spawn Problems (video)

Most online first person shooter games experience a little spawn camping during gameplay. But the video after the jump reveals that spawn camping could become a big problem in the new Modern Warfare 3 game if it’s not controlled.

It looks like you wont be able to get your hands on the Chevron WP7 unlock tool for Windows Phone devices from the moment, as the developers of the application has confirmed that they have sold out of the app.

Apple Had 52 Percent Of Mobile Browsing Share At The End Of 2011

According to a recent report, Apple’s iOS device took around 52 percent of the mobile browsing share at the end of 2011 in December, in second place was Java ME with a 21.7 percent share.

Third place goes to Google’s Android OS with a 16.29 percent share, and next is Symbian with a 5.76 percent share, and after that we have BlackBerry with a 3.51 percent share, whilst other devices made up just 1.07 percent.

We recently heard about the latest budget Android tablet from India, which is called the Akash, and now it looks like the device is going to be extremely popular as the manufacturers, Datawind have received over 1.4 million pre-orders in the first two weeks.

Twine Raises Over $500,000 On Kickstarter (video)

Researchers Unveil Living Neon Displays, Using Biopixels Made From Bacteria (video)

A research team comprising of biologists and bioengineers at UC San Diego, have been able to create a living neon sign using bacterial cells that periodically fluoresce in together, just like blinking light bulbs.

The living neon displays are created using millions of living fluorescent Escherichia coli, a rod-shaped bacterium that live in our intestines. Watch the video after the jump more a demonstration.

Asus Transformer Prime Fans Launch Petition To Get Bootloader Unlocked

Yesterday we heard that Asus’s new quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 tablet, the Transformer Prime comes with a locked bootloader, which means developers won’t be able to create custom ROM’s for the device and it will only be able to run packages signed by Asus.

The developer community are less than pleased with Asus, and they have now launched a petition to both Asus and Nvidia in an attempt to get the locked bootloader removed.

Another Steve Jobs Action Figure Appears Online

Anyone considering purchasing a BlackBerry PlayBook will be pleased to know that RIM has now reduced all its models down to one price of $299.99, for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions.

RIM has been tweaking its BlackBerry PlayBook pricing for sometime, but the new deal only seems to be on the official BlackBerry Store. As other resellers are still pricing the PlayBook at $499 and above.

FilmOn Air Portable Tuner Brings TV To Smartphones, Tablets And PCs

Commodore 64 Is 30 Years Old This Week

Thirty years ago this week the original Commodore 64 was announced, and it came with a massive 64KB of RAM, and ended up being very popular with sales of around 17.5 million units.

The Commodore brand was resurrected last year and you can now buy a PC with the latest components which is also called the Commodore 64, although it features quite a bit more RAM than the original 64KB.

Retrode 2 Ultimate Retro Gaming PC Adapter

Gamers who are looking to play a few retro games on their PC systems. Might be interested in a new adapter unveiled by Retrode, that will allow you to use cartridges from your old, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Nintendo SNES/SFC, together with Access ROM and SRAM.

Apple’s Mac Pro is definitely due a refresh, and it could be possible that we could see a new Ma Pro announced shortly, as the guys from Mac Rumors have noticed that the shipping dates on the custom Mac Pro range has now changed to one to three weeks.

The standard Mac Pro’s are still showing in stock, but if you make a simple upgrade, for example increasing the amount of RAM in the Mac Pro then the shipping date slips to one to three weeks.

Over 1.2 Billion Android And iOS Apps Downloaded In Last Week Of December

According to a recent report by analytics firm Flurry, in the last week of December there were more than 1.2 billion Android and iOS apps downloaded, this is an increase of around 60 percent from earlier in December.

According to the report, Christmas day was the largest single day for new device activations for both Android and iOS devices, and the period after this there was a significant increase in new app downloads.

ClockworkMod Tether Android Tethering App Released

Android developer Koushik Dutta has released a new free tethering app for Android devices, called ClockworkMod Tether, and what makes this app different is that it is apparently undetectable by the mobile carriers.

The app only works over USB at the moment, but according to the guys from the Verge is is simple to setup and just requires you to install some additional software on your computer as well as the app on your Android device.

Apple Holding Media Event This Month?

According to a recent report by Kara Swisher from All Things D, Apple has a media event planned this month which will apparently be held in New York, and the event is reportedly related to “a media-related announcement”.

If the report is correct then we wont see Apple announced their iPad 3 or their Siri powered HDTV, so instead it could be something related to publishing or advertising or possibly software.
