No matter what, do not break your iPhone X – repairing it will cost more than ever Shelling out $999 for a new iPhone X is a tough decision for many consumers. The phone has been heralded as "the future of smartphones" thanks to new features like Face ID and Animojis, but $999 is still a lot of money for a glass device that can easily shatter with a single slip up. And as we can see in this chart from Statista, breaking an iPhone X will come with a higher cost than any other iPhone.
Apple encourages gun-shy consumers to invest in AppleCare+. For the iPhone X, AppleCare+ costs $199 and is essentially an extended warranty that lasts for two years and protects against two incidents of accidental damage. For screen repair, Apple charges another $29 fee and for other damages $99.
Spending even more on an already expensive phone is not an attractive idea, and if a phone never gets broken the $199 ends up going to waste, but the iPhone X is a serious investment, and like a car or any other investment, should probably insured.
