US consumers are planning on spending more on Christmas gifts this year than during any holiday season since the Recession.

The $862 that the average American will spend on gifts this year is a whopping $110 more than the $752 expected leading up to last year's holiday season.

Retailers need to be prepared on both the e-commerce and brick-and-mortar fronts for this boom which is expected to commence on Black Friday.
