Network Interface Devices, otherwise known as NIDs, are looking to provide a lot of savings for their users. Installed on the customer's premises, NIDs make for an easy access point between the customer's network systems and the service provider's main connections. While NIDs may be comparatively simple in terms of their operations, their benefits will likely prove to be every bit as extensive.



Xirrus, a provider of high-performance wireless networks, claimed that its newly released Xirrus Wi-Fi Designer is the ultimate 802.11 wireless site survey solution, specifically architected to understand the multi-radio architecture of Xirrus Wireless Arrays. The Wi-Fi Designer is capable protecting one's Wi-Fi networking investment from rip-and-replace, and delivers a criteria-based design for planning wireless networks that match the specific signal level and band (5GHz/2.4GHz) requirements of mobile devices such as iPads, laptops and smartphones.



Global wireless broadband network provider, VelaTel Global Communications has purchased $7 million of infrastructure equipment and software from Chinese equipment maker ZTE Corp. VelaTel said that the infrastructure equipment will be installed at its operating subsidiaries in the Balkans--Novi-Net in Croatia and Montenegro Connect in Montenegro. According to VelaTel, the equipment has arrived at ports of entry in each country.



A new report indicates that Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) are only going to get more popular as mobile device usage skyrockets over the next few years. Mobile Experts' Principal Analyst Joe Madden worked very hard on the report that shows just how the DAS landscape, for both indoor and outdoor usage, will change.



The FCC has adopted complete reforms of its Universal Service Fund (USF) and Intercarrier Compensation (ICC) systems to improve broadband build-out to the 18 million Americans living in rural areas. By transforming the existing USF into a new Connect America Fund (CAF) focused on broadband, this reform will enhance the advantages of high-speed Internet to millions of consumers in every part of the country.



Edgewater Wireless has inked a $4.9 million deal with World Affinity Telecom to deliver next generation WiFi3 technology to Western and Central Africa. According to Edgewater, the first phase of this multi-phase deployment program will begin in fall in Freetown, Sierra Leone.



JJ Food Service is a foodservice delivery and collection provider, supplying a full range of food stuffs across the UK. Now, by using the Aruba Mobile Virtual Enterprise (MOVE) architecture, the service hopes to boost its warehouse efficiency.
