New Flipboard iPhone App is all the Rage


Named one of TIME’s “Top 50 Innovations” and Apple’s (News - Alert) iPad App of the year, Flipboard, as of today, is now available on the iPhone. The Flipboard (News - Alert) app was originally released on the iPad in 2010 and has accumulated 4 million users and has been downloaded by on in 10 iPad owners.

“Flipboard for iPhone (News - Alert) has been our number one request and now this release finally puts all the power of Flipboard in your pocket,” said Mike McCue, CEO of Flipboard.


The iPhone app is the first to take social networking and publications to create your own personalized magazine according to items being shared with you. Current social network sites available on the app include Facebook, Twitter (News - Alert), Linkedln, Tumblr, Instagram, Flickr, Google Reader and 500px.


Cover Stories is a new feature to the app that is currently only available on the iPhone . The feature remembers your interest in articles and friends in order to share information with you making the stories easily accessible. Highlights for the iPhone app also include Fast Flip, to scan through pages quickly with a flick of the thumb, and Read Later which uses Instapaper or Read It Later to mark stories you want to read at another time.
