Groupon Acquires Silicon Valley Startup Campfire Labs - TechZone360

After a successful recent IPO launch, deal-of-the-day website Groupon is now in a talent-buying mood. According to technology site TechCrunch, Groupon recently purchased a Silicon Valley startup Campfire Labs for an undisclosed amount.
To give low cost netbook PCs a new lease on life in the wake of growing competition from tablets, PCWorld.com reports that Intel has started shipping its latest low-power, low-cost dual-core processor Atom for netbooks.
Verizon Wireless is reportedly experiencing its third widespread service outage this month; days after its 4G LTE network went down for some users. The outage has been widely reported in the media as customers head to Verizon Wireless' online community forums to vent their frustrations. Customers in parts of Florida, Ohio, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Chicago are just some of the areas people have cited as having both their 3G and 4G connectivity knocked out of commissions.
While RIM and all things Blackberry have been struggling in the United States, the smartphones dubbed "crackberries" are doing quite well across the pond. That is both good and bad news for dedicated employees who are given corporate Blackberries. While these little devices are well-liked thanks to the ability to access emails and the Web away from the desktop, several companies have taken advantage of the devices. Employees have been complaining for quite some time that they can never really get away from work and just relax. For its part, Volkswagen appears to be relenting to its employee's demands, at least a little bit.
If you've ever cursed your parents for not getting you the most expensive gift out there, you might take offense at this article, since it has to do with people who were, for example, disappointed at their parents because they got them a car instead of an iPad. A new meme has appeared that makes fun of the anger people expressed on twitter when they didn't get exactly what they wanted. This is perhaps parallel to the "first world problems" meme.
Tibco Software is one big mover, as the company is up 3.4 percent to $24.61. This bodes well for the coming year, and CEO Vivek Ranadive is optimistic for the future.
Sony and Samsung, long-time rivals in the consumer electronics industry, have decided to dissolve the joint venture they had concerning LCD panels. The need to dissolve the venture comes from the financial troubles Sony's been facing for years with its television department. Sony seems inclined to pull back from the television from the market with hopes that it will recover from the blows.
Facebook just released its 2011 Memology, which gives a complete rundown of top Facebook's most talked about topics and biggest memes of 2011. Memes such as planking, "Ims" (like my status) and "tbh" (to be honest) were identified as top trending cultural phenomena for the year on the social networking site.
