Latest Featured Articles For service providers with a major investment in IMS, the decision about how to implement WebRTC is a challenge. On one hand, integrating WebRTC with your existing IMS-based solution allows the use of all of the IMS management and integrated boiling systems. This makes the deployment of a basic WebRTC addition to IMS a relatively simple proposition. On the other hand, there is a common belief that WebRTC opens the doors to significant innovations and change. Back in the days when SIP was new and not considered legacy, (yes, I know it's still not fully deployed) Bill Leslie and the team at LongBoard Technologies had a vision of making the phone and the computer screen work together. To make the most of the benefits of conferencing, companies are coming up with innovative conferencing tools. One such company is my Global Conference, a specialist in audio conferencing, which launched its new conferencing WebDialer tool. A unique feature of this tool is that users can connect to conference calls right from their browser, without having to download or install an app. The Internet enables real world experiences to go virtual. Want to go shopping? You can do that online. Want to communicate with your friends, colleagues and family face-to-face? There's a WebRTC solution for that. Whether you're interested in dating, banking, working, learning or improving your health, there's usually an online app for that. This is also true for those who are musically inclined; how many singers or musicians have you watched on YouTube, how many DJs are famous today because of streaming and how many times have you wished you could just record quality audio straight from your browser, without the expense and time of booking a recording studio? Many times people choose to communicate with a phone instead of the Internet not because they don't have the option online, but because quality isn't always guaranteed. Many factors, such as location, network connection and different devices and endpoints can contribute to a low-quality online communications experience, and many times users aren't able to pinpoint what exactly is wrong with a network connection until it's too late. As technologies like WebRTC and HTML5 continue to grow and adapt to the changing Internet landscape, it's evident how important real time communications will be in the future of the Web. Websites are no longer restricted to static webpages, and are becoming more of a collaborative platform for engaging, sharing and communicating with others.
