Fort Collins-based Advanced Energy Industries Inc. will be the first industry partner to begin work at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) just-completed Energy System Integration Facility (ESIF), envisioned as the only laboratory in the United States to specifically focus on tying utility-scale clean energy to the grid.
Located on the grounds of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado and built at a cost of $135 million, the 182,500-square-foot facility has already been itemized in President Barack Obama’s 2014 budget to receive an additional $20 million for operations. Read More
