Apple iPad Market Share Falls to All Time Low Posted: 27 Jul 2013 08:10 AM PDT If you don't know, Apple managed to win the Harris Poll's Brand of the Year award in three different categories with tablets being one of them. Yes, Apple iPad was selected as the winner for the tablet category. However, according to a data by Trend force, Apple iPad is losing its grip in the market. The iPad has fallen to the lowest point in the global tablet market during the second quarter this year. Apple revealed earlier that iPad shipments fell drastically to 14.6m from 17m. According to Trendforce's research division, this is almost 35.5 percent of the global market share, the lowest Apple has ever hit. MediaTek Announced World’s First True Octa-Core Processor Posted: 27 Jul 2013 07:46 AM PDT Looks like MediaTek has some more announcements to make. A few hours back, we reported that the company is working on a Triple-SIM technology that will allow users to use three SIM cards in one handset. Today, the company announced the world's first true octa-core processor. When we hear about "Octa-core" the first thing that comes to mind is Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa, but in that chip, only four cores are active at a time. The same is the case with other manufacturers who claims that the chipset is "octa-core". However, this is not the case with MediaTek's true octa-core. The company says that all the eight cores work simultaneously with maximum performance and efficiency. One of the hidden features that many Android users may not have noticed is the permissions manager – App Ops. The feature is hidden by default but it can be enabled either from within the device or by using a third party application. Apple Developer Center Is Finally Back Online Posted: 27 Jul 2013 01:45 AM PDT Finally, Apple Developer Center is back online after being offline for more than a week. If you don't know, Apple Developer Center was hacked last week that granted access to personal user information including names, emails addresses and mailing addresses of the developers. However, the company says that sensitive data such as the credit card numbers were not compromised. As a result, the site was taken down to combat the breach. The company did roll out a status page and issued a response about the downtime as well.
