With store robberies of money and drugs headed skyward, forward thinking retail chains are using video camera systems in new ways to take a bite out of crime, protect employees and aid law enforcement in identifying and apprehending bad guys.
Researchers at MIT presented findings at the SIGGRAPH computer graphics conference in California, Thursday, in which they explained new approaches to simplify and streamline 3D printing.
We live an age where social media delivers news faster than CNN and other traditional media outlets. Even the British royal family broke down this week and sent out tweets plus an electronic press release before posting its traditional gilded easel announcing the birth of a new prince. So why is it so difficult to get the latest book, album, or TV show released on the same day around the world?
Nokia just released their new Lumia 1020 flagship phone and I've been messing with it for about a day. This is an amazing phone and part of what makes it amazing are the improvements to the migration experience between this phone and the last time I made a move. But much of it is about the 41 MP, yes 41, camera in the device and the Xeon flash it has. This is just one cool phone …err, Camera…. err, Camera/Phone.
There's nothing like an upcoming Apple product to start churning the rumor mill at full force. When it comes to speculating about technology, people are willing to entertain some pretty far-fetched ideas. The iPhone 6 is no exception. Handwritten, paper to-do lists can drive anyone crazy. It seems that you are constantly tacking new tasks on to your list or scribbling out ones that are no longer relevant. Sometimes you completely misplace these papers around your house, at the bottom of your bag or at work. Working on projects or spending time with our loved ones can get lost among daily tasks such as taking out the trash or going grocery shopping. Simply put, a to-do list can make you nuts if they don't help your productivity.
The announcement that Cisco has agreed to pay $76 per share (roughly $2.7 billion) for cybersecurity software solutions company Sourcefire is big news.
When I was vacationing down at Ocean City a few summers ago, my young daughter was entertained because the phone in the room had a cord on it. By the time she enters the workforce, I suspect that business desktop phones will look a lot like Invoxia's Audioffice product.
There was plenty of Monday morning quarterbacking taking place around Microsoft's $900 million write-down on the existing Surface RT tablet, with pundits going so far as to blame advertising - c'mon, when has Redmond ever done an exciting ad?
