At the recent WebRTC Conference in Atlanta, the lack of true mobile WebRTC integration was identified as one of the major barriers to the growth of WebRTC. It was correctly identified that the lack of mobile support is a major potential barrier to adoption. The forecasts of a billion WebRTC devices by the end of 2013 include a large number of mobile devices including smartphones and tablets. While Ericsson showed its Bowser implementation, so far WebRTC has been limited to PCs and the Chrome and Firefox browsers. So we have all been waiting for the mobile path to emerge.
WebRTC may still be a relatively new technology, but the impact it's had so far seems both significant and pervasive. Indeed, plug in-free, browser-based, real-time communications between various devices will soon be extremely common, especially since WebRTC made its way to mobile via the latest Chrome beta for Android release.
While Web-based real time communications (WebRTC) is offering up quite a bit of potential for businesses of all sizes to make an impact on the overall operations of said businesses, there commonly remain a few things to do before bringing this new system in play.
An exciting new development for Web real-time communications (WebRTC) recently came to the fore, as Sansay rolled out a new next-generation session border controller (SBC) system designed to give service providers a little extra help in terms of getting WebRTC operations in place. Recently released numbers show the urgency that WebRTC proposes, so getting the necessary hardware in place to get service providers ready for this new technology is of great importance overall.
