One Reason Apple Should Be Afraid Of Samsung (Business Insider)
Earlier this week, Samsung announced its latest way to win business from Apple: a technology called Samsung Knox. Knox is a new feature that is part of Samsung's SAFE program (Samsung For Enterprises). It lets you divide your phone into two halves, one side for work and one side for your personal life. Knox and SAFE are two of Samsung's biggest weapons against Apple. Samsung is deliberately loading its smartphones with features to make enterprise IT departments love it. Its hope is that this will encourage IT departments to buy fleets of phones for their employees. Or, if they don't buy the phones, Samsung would like IT professionals to ask their employees to buy Samsung SAFE devices. Read >>

Android phones don't outsell Apple phones, Samsung phones do. Here are five reasons Google should be afraid: - Phones, phablets, tablets and more: The bigger the device gets, the more problematic things are for Google, because there are few Google (Android) apps for large devices, but plenty of Samsung-only features and interfaces.
- Retail stores: While Google is said to be launching stores, Samsung has clout with Best Buy, other mall retailers and even cellular carriers.
- Mobile payments: Samsung has NFC built into most of its premium phones, and has introduced its own digital wallet app to compete with Google Wallet.
- Media store: Samsung has expanded its media sales to its Smart TV line, and the current Smart TV interface dedicates a whole page to Samsung media.
- Apple TV: Samsung doesn't need Google to challenge Apple's TV-focused efforts.
Maybe none of this matters to Google as long as it can keep making money on mobile ads on Samsung devices. But in the long term even this relatively safe haven could be threatened, if Samsung tries to somehow grab a share of that revenue. Today, more than three out of four mobile phones in enterprises bear the Apple logo. 
What’s more, Android’s presence in business has fallen to the point where Microsoft is nipping at its heels. During the fourth quarter of 2012, Apple’s corporate presence rose to 77 percent of mobile devices, up from 71 percent during the same period in 2011, according to Good Technology. Microsoft annoyed customers when it revealed that smartphones running Windows Phone 7 could not be updated to Windows Phone 8. This will not be the case for Windows Pone 8, with the company’s rumored Blue update, however. Greg Sullivan, a senior marketing manager at Microsoft, confirmed to PCWorld that the company has "an upgrade path going forward" for Windows Phone 8 devices. The executive added that Microsoft’s current mobile operating system is also powerful enough to adopt to new hardware components, something Windows Phone 7 had trouble with. Game developers are working on independent projects more than ever and primarily creating games for tablets and mobile, according to a survey released by UBM Tech Game Network. 
About 38 percent of game developers responded to the survey saying their last gaming project was on mobile, but more than half (58 percent) said they are planning their next project for mobile. iOS took the lion's share of interest, with almost 90 percent working on a game for the App Store. Red Hot Labs, the gaming development startup founded by two ex-Zynga engineers who helped create FarmVille, announced Thursday it raised $1.5 million in seed funding. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, SV Angel, General Catalyst Partners, Japan’s IT-Farm and others.
