- Google employees are reportedly planning a walkout this week in protest of the recent sexual misconduct revelations. The "women's walk" protest, which more than 200 Google employees are reportedly planning to participate in, originated from an internal forum where workers shared their frustration with the tech giant.
- Facebook, Amazon, and Google are going to have to pay a major new tax on their UK sales. The UK government plans to implement a Digital Services Tax in April 2020 under which US tech giants will pay 2% tax on the revenue they make from UK users.
- Evan Spiegel named a new chief business officer for Snap before giving the job to someone else two days later. The Snap CEO named Kristen O'Hara as chief business officer before changing his mind and giving the job to someone else, Bloomberg reported.
- Twitter's CEO hinted at someday getting rid of its 'like' button and people freaked out. Twitter responded to a Telegraph report that it had no plans to remove the feature at the moment, but it was rethinking the "like" button as part of a plan to ensure the platform is "incentivizing healthy conversation."
- A big Tesla shareholder is ready to back Elon Musk with more cash despite questioning the CEO recently. A partner at Scottish investment firm Baillie Gifford, one of Tesla's biggest shareholders, told The Times of London that it would be willing to back Elon Musk with more cash if needed.
- Two consumer groups are asking the FTC to investigate android over apps marketed at children which contain advertising. The groups conducted an analysis of the Google Play Store which found many apps aimed at children contained advertising.
- Daimler's CEO says Mercedes-Benz may work with Tesla in the future. The German luxury car producer sold its stake in Tesla, but is still open to collaborating in the future.
- Google made an AI tool which listens to deep sea recordings to spot whale songs. It could be used to track whales as they travel through the ocean.
- Silicon Valley parents are so panicked about kids' screen time that they're having nannies sign "no-phone contracts." Silicon Valley parents are growing increasingly concerned about the effects of technology on kids' development, the New York Times reports.
