Armadillos are infecting humans with leprosy — but we gave it to them first

Leprosy is the oldest disease known to be associated with humans, with evidence of characteristic bone pitting and deformities found as far back as 2000 BC. A recent study concluded that in southern states in the US and in Brazil, leprosy is being transmitted from armadillos to people.
