In my previous column, I made several predictions about how the demand for high-accuracy wireless location will grow this year, for applications ranging from public safety to location surveillance to consumer applications. However, not all applications require the highest accuracy. In some cases, less granular accuracy may be sufficient to meet a user’s needs.
What is important is that the user understands the differences between premium, or high-accuracy, location solutions and low-end, or less accurate, location solutions. While high-accuracy may cost more than low-accuracy, the premium is justified in the case of mission-critical needs or high-revenue potential applications.
