I am not ready to call it an obsession, but I will admit to intense fascination. Back in February I wrote about the rumored development work at Google on Android-based heads-up display (HUD) glasses, designed to go where a smartphone can, i.e., over your eyes. As of today, the Project Glass team that is developing the glasses, due out in time for Christmas, is out in public.
The tablet market has been absolutely dominated by Apple over the last few years, with strong sales of the company's iPad. However, another technology giant may be ready to launch its own answer to the device.
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have recently seen a significant increase in network traffic due to subscribers' addiction to mobile data services, presenting a considerable barrier to sustain MNOs' bottom line - in fact, according to Nielsen, 2011 saw an 89 percent increase in mobile data consumption. Even more growth is expected over the next year, which will continue to increase the amount of network traffic that MNOs must manage.
Unless you take a great deal of precaution and know your way around blocking software, your Web activity is probably being tracked. In fact, a number of companies are studying your clicks and analyzing your activity to discover what you want, and display the most relevant ads they can.
A lot of people learned a lot of lessons with the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) boondoggle that saw both ordinary Americans and American technology companies - supported by the White House - come down like a ton of bricks against the legislation's authors and entertainment industry supporters.
Google plans to build a new data center in Taiwan, the third of its kind in Asia, to help meet the increasing demand for Google products and Internet usage. This will be the third data center in Asia, with the other two located in Hong Kong and Singapore. Google's investment totals $700 million.
