Yesterday we ran a webinar with Oracle about IT and the Smart Grid. It really was a program for ISV’s and utility IT types and was effective in speaking to the areas of development associated with the Smart Grid. Complex processing was not surprisingly one of the more asked about topics.
However, the second, part of the presentation is what I am writing about today because it addressed a topic I have been seeking to understand: the home gateway. Now when I think about M2M, most of the time I am in the industrial verticals such as medical, telematics, transportation, supply chain and logistics. These are the areas I think are the most compelling for ROI today. However, when it comes to the home, I start to wonder, who is going to manage my future?
