Perhaps the most significant conclusion one might draw from a survey of 508 European executives from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit in August-September 2011 is that expensive enterprise technology programs have produced highly mixed results. Wednesday's announcement that Facebook has filed the required documents to begin selling its coveted stock in a few months has caught the attention of the world - as did the social media site itself. The newly named CEO of Sony, Kazuo Hirai, will have a lot of challenges when he takes over in April at the once-thriving company. The Kindle Fire tied for the most popular Android-based tablet this month, and appears to have taken the previous unchallenged king, the vastly more capable, Galaxy Tablet from Samsung, out at the knees. But what happens when those experiences are commentary on products or services from your business? Hollywood and the technology business often butt heads. The latest skirmish was over the "Stop Online Piracy Act," a measure some might say was well intentioned but an overly-blunt instrument. That isn't to say content piracy is a non-issue. Facing lower demand and a struggling economic recovery, the recent quarter was far from stellar for Juniper Networks, according to news reports. The company reported profits for the fourth quarter of $96.2 million compared to $190.2 million during the same quarter during the prior year, according to news reports.
