Witness app turns your Mac into security camera

Posted: 06 Apr 2011 01:00 AM PDT

Burglary is a common problem nowadays, and if you don't want to spend money on expensive alarm system, there's a special app that turns your Mac into a security camera.

It's quite simple actually, you just need a Mac and an iPad or iPhone and the Witness app, and you can turn your Mac into a security system. This app is great since you can activate the security remotely from your iPhone or iPad, but the downside of this system is that you have to keep your Mac turned on and have available internet connection at all times. Anyhow, Witness works great, it will send you pictures and videos directly to your iPhone or iPad in case anything moves in front of your Mac. However, although Witness sounds like a good alternative to expensive alarm systems, nothing keeps the burglar from taking your Mac as well.

If you want to try this app out, you can get it free for your iOS, but you'll have to pay $40 for the Mac application.
