WebRTC and the PSTN - WebRTC World

Voxbone and Zingaya announced today that Zingaya's VoxImplant, a real-time communication platform for mobile and Web app developers, will integrate with Voxbone for PSTN access through the Voxbone access into a variety of worldwide carriers and the PSTN. As the Zingaya platform incudes WebRTC capabilities and a full Web API, this is yet another step on how WebRTC can be used to provide a complete communications system including PSTN access.
One question I often hear is, "Where are the WebRTC apps?" On the surface, this is an interesting question, never mind that we are very early in the technology -- version 1 of the standards is not done --our natural impatience with the explosive change in technology requires us to ask almost immediately after hearing about something for the killer app.
A single-purpose event offers advantages for everyone involved. I have participated in more shows than I care to count, of course, but in this case I recall one in which I manned a booth offering white-labeled SIP service on the tradeshow floor alongside vendors peddling a trading floor ticker monitor and an underground vault for outside telephone equipment. Standing there, it was so easy to work out that passersby who were interested in booths on either side of me were likely not the target for my solution.
We've all been there - when you're on a conference call with many different team members, someone is bound to be a few minutes late. Whether they forgot about the meeting, were just held up in dialing in, or even someone dials into the wrong conference room by accident, it's not uncommon to hear someone join in minutes after a meeting has begun. While a bit disruptive, this is hardly the worst downfall of conference calls (see: quality, bandwidth, lack of collaboration tools, presence, etc). However, this can be a problem when you are in a private or confidential meeting - don't you wish you could virtually lock a conference call room, just as you would a meeting room?
