| Latest Featured Articles Thrupoint today announced it is spinning the Fusion Software part of the business out as a separate company. The new company, to be known as CafeX Communications, will focus on delivering user experience management solutions for contact center and communications systems. Examples cited by CafeX include visual IVR (interactive voice response) solutions for smartphones, video-powered business-to-consumer (B2C) Web applications, and capture of extensive mobile Web user analytics in order to facilitate intelligent, consistent customer interactions across various digital channels. The Communications Industry unit of Oracle yesterday came out with at least three pieces of news: a new release of its data collection, storage and analysis solution, a new WebRTC session controller, and a cloud-based billing and revenue management solution for service providers. A lot of the best technology excitement these days emanates from the customer conferences for the new innovative social, cloud and mobile platforms that are busy disrupting the IT world. There has been a lot of talk about WebRTC's potential in recent months, but comparatively little to show for it outside of telecommunications. To be fair, WebRTC's main squeeze is and will always be real-time communications via video, audio and text, but there are definitely other areas where simple video transmission comes in handy - such as, say, live Web broadcasting.
