SMART HOME TAKES CENTER STAGE AT CES: The smart home market is drawing a range of companies offering products to make managing a home more seamless. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 is one venue where companies show off their latest products and vie for attention that could bolster adoption. Here are three smart home announcements from CES that illustrate what's coming next in the connected home space:

	Ring expanded its smart light bulb offerings As we discussed last year, Amazon-owned Ring further expanded its smart home product lineup with a standalone smart bulb. This is the company's first foray into the smart lighting market, and we think Ring can reasonably challenge incumbents in this space thanks to its deep integration with the Alexa platform and its brand recognition. The installed base of smart bulbs is expected to grow from 197 million units in 2020, to 541 million units by 2024, according to Business Insider Intelligence estimates.
	Kwikset adds fingerprint entry to smart locks lineup The company's choice to move toward biometric authentication allows it to make a smaller smart lock than many competitors, since the fingerprint reader takes up less space than a keypad. The Kwikset device integrates with Amazon's and Google's smart home platforms, and it will be available later this year starting at $249.
	Netatmo launches programmable near-field communication (NFC) keys for smart lock entry A NFC creates a close-range communication field that can identify unique objects. By adding NFC as a secondary security check to traditional keys, the French smart home company will allow users to program unlocking ability through an app. The company did not announce pricing or anticipated availability.
