One of the most irritating things about some chargers for smartphones for the car and the house is that you have to remove your case to put the phone in the charger. If you have a Samsung Galaxy S III smartphones and you need a charger for your car, a company called iBolt has a new offering that will charge your phone without having to take case off.

Ouya Shows off Game Controller and Promises OnLive Support at Launch

Ouya has offered up the first official image of its gaming controller and it looks a lot like the Xbox 360 controller. Ouya’s game controller has two analog joysticks and a d-pad along with four circular buttons. The controller also appears to have a pair of shoulder buttons.

What would a Friday be without some iPhone rumors/news? More images of the alleged iPhone 5 have surfaced, this time showing off the device in a case. We have no idea how the case manufacturer would have gotten their hands on the phone but the rumor is that it is a prototype unit that was smuggled out of Foxconn.

Bugs are creepy to begin with. Robot bugs even more so, because…Well, they’re robot bugs. Researchers in China love bugs as inspiration for robots. A team of engineers from the country’s School of Chemical Engineering and Technology have created a microbot weighing just 0.02 lbs that can repeatedly jump across the surface of water without falling in.

Samsung’s most affordable and most compact mirrorless camera, the NX1000, is available for purchase. It ships today for $700. It was originally set to hit retailers last month and includes a 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, a 3-inch LCD (no AMOLED display) and a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor.

Instagram Now Has 80 Million Users

It looks like Facebook’s $1 billion acquisition of Instagram has help the photo sharing app grow significantly as Instagram have announced that they now have over 80 million users.

Back in May Instagram had 50 million users, so they have almost doubled their user base in just a couple of months, the growth was also helped by Instagram’s launch of their Android app.

Apple Buys Mobile Security Company AuthenTec For $356 Million

Mobile security firm AuthenTec has announced that they have been acquired by Apple, in a deal which is worth $356 million, and Apple has agreed to buy the company for $8 per share.

AuthenTec develops a range of mobile security solutions as well as finger security for PCs and Notebooks, Apple has yet to confirm the deal.

AT&T To Drop HTC One X To $99 This Weekend (Rumor)

The HTC One X has been available for $199.99 with AT&T when you sign up to a new two year agreement with the carrier, if you are thinking of buying one you may want to hold off for a few days, as they may be dropping the price of the handset this weekend.

According to the guys over at The Verge, AT&T will be dropping the HTC One X from $199.99 to $99.99 this Sunday the 29th of July, of course this has yet been confirmed by AT&T.

Universal Search Headed Back To International Galaxy III Soon

Samsung recently removed the universal search feature from their Galaxy S III smartphone in the US, and earlier this week the service was also removed from the international version of the handset.

The feature may have been removed because it is one of the features that Apple is alleging infringes on its patents, and now it would appear that it will be restored to the international Galaxy S III version very soon.

If you didn’t manage to pre-order one of Google’s new Google Nexus 7 tablets, the device has now gone on sale at the Carphone Warehouse stores here in the UK.

They are selling the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 for £199.99, or you can get the device for free on any of their tethered data contracts which cost £20.50 per month, of course you will need another device to tether the Nexus 7 too.

Samsung Galaxy Smartphones Help It Reach Record Profits

Samsung has announced its latest financial figures, the company made an operating profit of 6.27 trillion won, around $5.9 billion US dollars in the second quarter of 2012, which is up 79 percent on the same time last year.

The increase in profits is mainly down to the popularity of Samsung’s Galaxy range of smartphones, which have contributed to around 60 percent of their revenue.

Apple Wins Stay On Publishing Apology To Samsung In UK

We recently heard that a judge in the UK had ruled that Apple had to publish a sort of an apology to Samsung in the UK, on their website and in various UK newspapers.

Apple were ordered by the court to publish a notice stating that Samsung’s products did not copy the iPad, as Apple had previously stated, although now it would appear that Apple has won a stay on publishing the notice.

Motorola Android Devices Banned In Germany Following Court Ruling

Microsoft have been suing Motorola in a FAT patent case in Germany, and according to Florian Mueller from Foss Patents, the court has just ruled against Motorola and have decided to ban Motorola’s Android devices in Germany.

Microsoft will have to put up a bond of 10 million Euros to enforce the ruling, and Motorola will have to remove the infringing devices from retail stores, here is a statement from Microsoft.

When Google announced the Nexus 7, Asus also said that there would be some official covers for the tablet, and it looks like the first ones are now available from the US Google Play Store.

Early 2006 iPhone Prototypes Revealed

We recently saw some photos of an original iPad prototype, and now we have some of the original iPhone from 2006, as you can see from the photos below, one design looks similar to the iPhone 4S whilst the other looks like a large iPod Nano.

The guys over at The Verge spotted some new design renders from 2006, and the photos below were actual design prototypes, before the original iPhone was released.

Sure, this monitor looks pretty ordinary, but it not just your average monitor. Asus has just revealed the Asus VG278H. It’s actually the first monitor to break past the 120 Hz mark. Not that they haven’t been trying for years. This determines the refresh rate of the screen. The higher the resolution, the more solid and flicker-free the image. Naturally, gamers will be thrilled with this monitor.

We recently heard that the CyanogenMod team are working on CyanogenMod 10, which is based on the latest version of Google’s mobile and tablet OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The guys behind CyanogenMod 10 have been working on their new release for a few weeks, and whilst there is no official release as yet for the Google Nexus 7 one developer, winner00 has ported CyanogenMod 10 to the Google Nexus 7.

Sprint and Motorola have officially announced their latest Android smartphone, the Motorola Photon Q, which will come with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, and features a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Sprint Sold 1.5 Million iPhones Last Quarter

Sprint has revealed its latest financial details, and alsso provided some information on how many iPhones it sold in its last financial quarter, with a total of 1.5 million iPhones sold.

Sprint also announced that 44 percent of its iPhone sales were to new customers, and the company now has more than 56 million subscribers, making it the third largest in the US.
