Star Wars: The Old Republic going free-to-play?

There were some rumors back in June that according to Star Wars: The Old Republic's lead designer, they were considering the free-to-play model. This would let gamers play the game for free without subscription fees. In this model developers make money by selling perks, items, gold and other in game goodies for cash. At the time, the developers were only considering the model.

Nintendo Q1 results: Wii sales cut in half since 2011, 3DS sales more than double

Nintendo’s results for Q1 of 2012 show growth in profit for the company. Gross profit was 24.9 billion yen. That’s over double last year’s Q1. Operating income is negative, however is reduced since last quarter’s statement, which is probably due to very good 3DS sales.

OS X Mountain Lion Now Available To Download

Apple had today released the latest version of their Mac OS, OS X Lion and it is now available to download from the Mac App Store, and it is available for $19.99 or £13.99.

Unfortunately we were unable to download OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store here in the UK, we got a message saying it is temporarily unavailable so we presume that it is due to the demand for the download.

Olympic Venues In The UK Ban WiFi Hotspots

The Olympics will kick off here in the UK this weekend, with the opening ceremony taking place this Friday, and now the London Olympics Committee has decided that it would be a good idea to ban WiFi hotspot at the Olympic venues.

WiFi hotspots have now been added to the list of banned items, you can see the statement from the list below, and it seems pretty ridiculous.

Fujifilm has announced its latest compact camera, the FinePix F800 EXR, and it features a 16 megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor with a 25-500mm zoom and a ISO range up to 12,800.

The Fujifilm FinePix F800 EXR features 3 inch 460k dot LCD display and it also feature USB, HDMI out and it is capable of recording full high definition video in 1080p.

Google Nexus Q Now In Stock At Google Play Store

When Google announced their new Nexus 7 tablet, they also announced the Google Nexus Q, which is a new Android powered media streaming player and the device is now in stock in the Google Play Store for $299.99.

As a reminder the Google nexus Q is designed to stream music and video around your home, the device comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it features a dual core OMAP 4460 Cortex A9 processor and SGX540 GPU.

Pebble Smartwatch Shipping Delayed

Some of our readers will remember the Pebble Smartwatch that we featured on the site a while back, the device managed to raise over $10 million in Kickstarter and was originally scheduled to start shipping in September.

The developers of the device announced their original shipping date based on an order of 1,000 watches, but because the device was so popular and over 15,000 were ordered it may take them a little longer to start shipping them out.

Qualcomm’s S4 Pro Quad Core Developer Tablet gets Benchmarked

Earlier we heard about Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 quad core powered developer tablet, and now the guys over at Slashgear have run some benchmarks on this new tablet to see how it performed.

According to the guys over at Slashgear the device is pretty fast, and it came with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box instead of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Apple’s iCloud Hits 150 Million Users

Apple has released the latest details on its iCloud service, and it looks like iCloud is becoming even more popular as Apple has announced that they now have more than 150 million iCloud users.

The last figures we had from Apple were back in Apple when they reported that they had 125 million iCloud users, so that is an increase of around 20 percent and 25 million users in just a couple of months.

Apple Sold 1.3 Million Apple TVs In Quarter Three

Qualcomm Quad Core Snapdragon Powered Tablet Announced

Qualcomm has announced the launch of their first Android tablet powered by a quad core Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 processor, the device is aimed at developers and will set you back a cool $1300.

This new Qualcomm tablet features a 10.1 inch WXGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 1366 x 720 pixels, it also comes with 2GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera.

OS X Mountain Lion Launches Today

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity hits the UK on August 31st

ZTE N880E With Android Jelly Bean Launched In China

ZTE has announced that one of their Android smartphones, the ZTE N880E will now come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, the device was originally launched back in May.

As well as Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, the ZTE N880E features a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and the device is powered by a single core Qualcomm 1GHz processor.

AT&T Activates 3.7 Million iPhones In Q3

AT&T has announced its latest financial results for quarter three, and they also announced that they activated a total of 3.7 million iPhones in quarter three.

According to AT&T the iPhone accounted for 73 percent of their smartphone activations in quarter three, although the total amount of iPhones activated was down from the previous quarter.

In Q3 Apple sold 17 million iPads, 26 million iPhones, 4 million Macs

Apple revealed its third quarter financials yesterday so we have some sales figures for all of its various hardware. As you might expect the company had record sales of the iPad, which jumped 84 percent year-over-year and 44 percent from the previous quarter to 17 million units sold during Q3. We don’t have any info broken down by iPad model, however.

Apple Wants $2.5 Billion From Samsung In Damages

Apple and Samsung’s US trial will take place in California later this month, we have already seen sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned in the US ahead of the trial and now we get some information on just how much money Apple are looking from Samsung.

According to a recent report by Foss Patents, Apple are looking for total damages from Samsung of around $2.5 billion, and Apple is looking for part of Samsung’s profits relating to devices which Apple claim infringe on their devices.

Skyrim 1.7 Software Update gets Detailed

Samsung SPH-L300 Android ICS Smartphone Leaked

It looks like Samsung is about to launch another Android smartphone, the Samsung SPH-L300, which is also know as the Samsung Gogh and the device is headed to the Now Network and has support for Sprint’s new 4G LTE.

The Samsung Gogh will come with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and the devices features a 4 inch Super AMOLED display with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Box Launches Cloud Storage App On Windows Phone

Motorola RAZR HD Appears At The FCC

We have already seen a few leaked photos of the new Motorola RAZR HD, the handset will launch on US mobile Verizon Wireless, and now it would appear that the RAZR HD is getting closer to release as it has just passed through the FCC.

Whilst we do not have any official specifications on the new Motorola RAZR HD, we heard previously that the device will come with a 4.5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
