| Featured Articles It is Smart Cities Week here in the U.S. and to kick it off, the White House this morning announced $80 million new federal dollars to go toward its Smart Cities Initiative, which launched a year ago. AT&T is building this Smart City, not on rock'n'roll, but on the back of its cellular network. In two announcements, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to Smart City development. The Government of South Australia, the Adelaide Gig City Initiative and US Ignite announced September 26 that Adelaide is to be the first international city to join the growing US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities program. Sponsored by: IoT Evolution Expo - February 7-10, 2017 Fort Lauderdale, Florida According to a new research report from M2M/IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, the number of shipped cellular M2M terminals were 2.7 million worldwide during 2015, and the firm predicts that that number will more than double to reach 5.7 million in 2020. Berg Insight defines cellular terminals as standalone devices intended for connecting M2M devices to a cellular network. These include primarily general-purpose cellular routers, gateways and modems that are enclosed in a chassis and have at least one input/output port. Trackers, telematics devices and other specialized devices are excluded from this report. I believe that the biggest danger that faces the Internet of Things is not even security related.
