Featured Articles Voip-Pal says its patent suite is fundamental to modern telecommunications using internet protocol. It has a total of ten issued U.S. Patent & Trade Office patents that Voip-Pal says describe inventions to integrate VoIP services with any of the telco systems. Back in the early days of Microsoft the company made a critical strategic error that didn't come back to bite them in the butt until last decade. They finally corrected the problem, and that means there is good and bad news in regard to your Windows 10 upgrade. The bad news is it stops being free, the good news is you'll never have to pay for an upgrade again once you move to Windows 10. Distracted driving is a major problem in the U.S. In 2014, as many as 30,000 people died, and more than 430,000 were injured as a result of car crashes that involved distracted drivers. However, the most ironic thing is that a smartphone which is thought by many as the root of the problem, can be the solution to this issue. Last week Microsoft made it clear that Cortana would only work with Microsoft's browser and search products making people question its cross platform efforts. I think it is time to explore just what products like Cortana, Siri, and Alexa (the personality of Amazon's Echo, Dot, and Tap) are and just what they are not. To net this out Cortana and Siri were concepts created for products that primarily had touch, mouse, and/or keyboard interfaces and Alexa was created for a class of products that just have voice. Apple's 13 percent sales decline and subsequent stock price drop this week has lead to the usual crazy talk about how to fix the company. Vivek Wadhwa has suggested the radical move of Apple buying Tesla and installing Elon Musk as the visionary white knight to save the company, least it follow the footsteps of HP and Compaq. I've never been a big fan boy and have long noted the long slowdown in innovations coming out of the company, but Apple doesn't need such a radical fix and I doubt Musk would be interested. Besides, there's a better M&A fit than Tesla. Scary cyber attacks on company networks threaten the personal information of many. It's a frightening thing and it's become our unfortunate reality.
