Latest Featured Articles The rise of the app in communication and collaboration is continuing, giving WebRTC momentum as operators roll out offerings to compete with over-the-top (OTT) threats. For starters, Snapchat users can now place audio and video calls. In addition, over 200 stickers have been added to the app's existing repertoire, allowing users to send stickers of aliens, ghosts, animals and more to their contacts via chat. These new features are rolling out to the Android and iOS versions of the app this week in an update called Chat 2.0. The business communications landscape has been transforming as new solutions and digital networks continue to transform at break neck speeds. In the past, businesses had to pay for different conferencing solutions and their legacy PBX phone systems weren't able to do anything fancy like share documents or tell you if the person on the other end was available to chat. The list could go on and on, yet that doesn't mean all hope is lost for marketing efforts. It simply means that in an age where real-time communications is the expectation, marketers have to be agile enough to change on the fly. WebRTC will make these gains thanks to sheer versatility. With users able to use WebRTC as a means to attract new customers and keep the old-it can be used to provide at least one part of an omnichannel experience, and arguably, others as well-WebRTC can have significant bottom line impact. Click-to-call services become fairly easy to add with WebRTC, and some have used WebRTC as an easy-access mobile replacement for conferencing tools like Skype.
