GENBAND Predicts 2016 in Real Time - WebRTC World

Embedded RTC capabilities are going to become more widespread this year as well, particularly for field service applications. Vehicles and remote locations can be embedded with valuable information on location and can also contain troubleshooting information and support. This may be embellished using RTC for real-time video and other tech support and the entire process may be integrated with CRM systems to keep technicians and sales and support teams up to speed.
RTC should start at the front-end of the sales cycle, enabling customers to communicate with contact center members to learn more about products, get virtual demonstrations via video and in real-time, and to provide a more intimate communications channel between customer and sales than stock email or IM. Voice can supplement text-based conversation while video can provide more illustration and a real face to an employee rather than just being a generic voice on the phone.
Nothing sinks the heart of devops faster than discovery that an app or cloud service is not performing as expected and has been down for a few minutes, hours or days. Helping devops staff ensure that these nasty discoveries don't go unaddressed for very long, IBM has just announced that it has launched a new real-time notification service for its Bluemix cloud platform.
With over 37 bugfixes and new added features, Chrome48 is now being enhanced with scalable WebRTC and VP9 updates. As Chrome collaborates with Vidyo to release the new VP9 codec, cross-platform delivery will now allow video calls to take place through the same high quality it always has but with a 40 percent lower bitrate than the previous VP8 codec. This leads to improved HD-calling at the previous bitrate through the WebRTC open source project. The downfall is that it will take up an additional 15 percent of CPU.
