Alcatel-Lucent: Turning the Corner, or Avoiding the Coroner?


I went to the Alcatel Lucent Symposium last week and heard the vision from them about where they are headed. It was an interesting event and they did well presenting their vision for their future and meeting communications needs. Candidly, the last time I had gone to their presentations it was after their acquisition spree and they had problems getting the entire portfolio into a coherent strategy. 


This time their vision was very coherent. They were a networking company and that is what they optimize.  Something I knew intellectually, but had not connected the dots, was how much of their hardware was all Intel-based.
