Supreme Court Rules Cell Phones Are Private - TechZone360

It's official: Your cell phone, like your home, is a private environment to which even law officials must have explicit permission to enter.
More than halfway through the world's largest and most popular sporting event, it would seem that the United States may have finally decided that it likes soccer, maybe, filling in the lone blank spot in the world map when it comes to interest in the game.
In case you missed it, the U.S. Supreme Court in one of the most widely anticipated decisions regarding technology this session, ruled in 6-3 decision in AMERICAN BROADCASTING COS., INC., ET AL. v. AEREO, INC., FKA BAMBOOM LABS, INC., that Aereo, a start-up streaming service, had violated copyright laws by capturing broadcast signals on miniature antennas and delivering them to subscribers for a fee.
Though video has met with marketing success in such business-to-consumer efforts such as TV, gas pump-top screens, in store TV systems and live streaming sports, it could help Facebook play a significant role in consumer purchases.
Global Internet access speeds grew about two percent in the second quarter of 2014, on a sequential basis, reaching an average connection speed of 3.9 Mbps and a peak speed of about 19.3 Mbps, down about nine percent from the start of 2014, when peak speeds averaged 21.2 Mbps.
Panasonic is emerging as a very different company in the business space their hardened Toughbook Laptops have expanded into Toughpad tablets and drifted into solid POS (Point of Sale), Solar, and Digital Signage markets. Much of this was visible at the NASCAR event in Sonoma, Calif. last weekend, and I had a chance to chat with a number of Panasonic customers as to why they preferred solutions from the company. Panasonic provides much of the technology used at NASCAR and they were the primary sponsor of the Panasonic car driven by Jeff Gordon which missed winning by that much to quote Maxwell Smart in a nail biter of a race.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Aereo violates copyright law. Some say the ruling effectively kills Aereo and similar business models. Others might argue that what the ruling effectively kills is any business model that does not involve paying licensing fees to local broadcasters for the right to retransmit local broadcast signals, as routinely is done by cable TV, satellite TV and telco TV providers.
Google appears to be on the cusp of completely re-designing how their apps work across multiple apps with the announcement of a new universal design language, going by the name 'Material Design'. Material design is expected to be a part of the next generation of Google's Android mobile operating system, currently known simply as 'L.' The new design is engineered to focus on the user first and is meant to evoke the look and feel of ink and paper consistently across all platforms.
