Good morning! The news:

  1. Amazon released the Fire TV, a video and gaming box that sells for $99.99. It's just like all the other streaming devices out there, just with a new interface and games.
  2. Microsoft revealed a major change for Windows 8. Any computer with a keyboard will load in the traditional desktop mode instead of the tile-based interface Microsoft tried to thrust on users.
  3. Microsoft also added "Cortana," a Siri-style personal assistant to Windows Phone.
  4. The biggest story from Microsoft is that it's giving away Windows on all devices with a less than 9-inch screen. This is a major change in business strategy.
  5. The tech protesting in San Francisco is getting weird, and gross. Someone climbed on a Yahoo bus and vomited on it yesterday.
  6. Still don't understand why Facebook paid $2 billion for Oculus Rift? Read this. Virtual Reality is going to be a huge part of our lives.
  7. Google's stock split is happening today. It gives Larry Page and Sergey Brin even more control over their company.
  8. The U.S. government tried to build "Cuban Twitter," a Twitter group that would undermine the Cuban government.
  9. Barry Diller says that if Aereo, the Internet-based TV company, loses its Supreme Court case, then it's "finished."
  10. Here's our review of the new HBO show Silicon Valley: It's pretty good, but not great. You'll enjoy it if you watch it.
