Texting while driving, though discouraged, hasn’t vanished from the lexicon of drivers. Legislation, penalties or policies to curb it don’t seem to have had the desired impact, as many still continue to talk and drive. Good2Go, the specialist auto insurance provider, is also having a shot at helping drivers stay safe on the roads by enticing them with a discount scheme.
Discounts of any kind always attract buyers, and it is this aspect that Good2Go intends to exploit. It has introduced a five percent cell phone safety discount on auto insurance when drivers choose not to text and drive.
Text blockers disable the data functions of the phone while it is being driven. They typically only affect the driver's cell phone, and not passengers’ mobile devices. However, it doesn’t disable essential call functionality, so in case of an emergency, drivers can still call 911.
Once drivers install the text blocking device in their vehicles and provide a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase, they will be entitled to the discount. Of course, drivers need to check with Good2Go as to whether they are eligible for the discount.
