The Internet of Things' 2014 Resolution: More Design


With this year wrapping up and the start of the next year right around the corner, there's a lot of forward thinking going on. Whether it's as simple as a New Year's resolution or as complex as the fate of an entire technological concept, thinking about next year at the end of this year is pretty much par for the course. Some have begun looking at the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), and one point becomes starkly clear for a future resolution: Bring in more design principles.


The rise of the IoT showed users that there was a panoply of devices that could be connected to other devices, and to central hubs, and provide a host of benefits therein. Whether it was packing crates that could report current location to administrators, or various household mechanisms that could be controlled from a smartphone, the IoT's promise grew with nearly each new day.
