It’s getting harder to agree on what is mobile in M2M and what is part of the Internet of Things. For example, tablets and smart TVs have many of the same characteristics; both are usually shared devices with a strong emphasis on entertainment.
So what about a car? It certainly fits the mobile criteria; the driver has functions – monitoring and controls, location-based services, communication (including assistance) – but beyond the driver’s seat, it’s all about infotainment.
So it’s with a great deal of curiosity that I read about telematics.
