Our friend James Brehm, when sizing the market, uses the phrase “huge and getting bigger (huge -r?).” It’s easy to see why the numbers are so hard to correlate; everybody’s definition of M2M is different.
Everyone defines things differently. Some include e-readers but don’t count e-reader software on smartphones. Some count M2M as enterprise-driven and “Internet of Things” as consumer-driven, while others use the exact same terms and say that M2M is wireless-connected and Internet of Things either also includes any network or just LAN/WAN-based solutions.
Then it gets worse with vertical definitions; are fleet solutions just GPS or do they require optimization? Does Telehealth include or exclude video conferencing? And if it excludes that, then why is video surveillance different? Read More...
