 Today's advice comes from Sara Blakely, Founder of Spanx, Inc. via her interview with Forbes: "Don't solicit feedback on your product, your idea, or your business just for validation purposes. You want to tell the people who can help move your idea forward, but if you're just looking to your friend, coworker, husband, or wife for validation, be careful." Something Blakely has always believed is that you need to trust your gut when it comes to your business. This is also true when it comes to validation of your idea or product. While it’s perfectly fine, and in fact very useful, to ask others for feedback, you have to be the one giving yourself validation. As the person who knows your product best, you need to ensure that others’ concerns and “what-if” thinking doesn’t get into your head and jeopardize your success. "Out of love and concern a lot of people will express some concerns, and it can stop a lot of multimillion dollar ideas right in their tracks in the beginning."
