Banks are upping their efforts to become more digital, with many committing billions to digital strategies and others partnering with fintechs to incorporate new technologies into their legacy systems.

Despite their efforts and hefty financial commitments, there's a gap between the perceived importance of these drivers and the effectiveness of banks' digital strategies. Although the majority of banks surveyed think that improving customer experience is an important principle to guide their digital strategies, only 38% think that the resulting strategies are successful.
If banks don't find better ways to improve the customer experience, they could fall behind fintechs. Fintechs are known for offering smooth and easy interfaces via their apps, giving users a convenient experience. However, banks are conventionally not as tech-savvy, and their apps are often less intuitive to follow.
