Today was a big day for Samsung. On the eve of IFA 2013, the company officially released its Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1. We have a prediction in the works as an answer to "Unless…" - and a somewhat different take on why Nokia-Microsoft is a very important deal for the mobile world. But hang on, we'll come to it. Weak demand in Germany for electric cars has led to Siemens' decision to end production of charging points. Adoption of alternative vehicles has not taken off as much as leaders in the European country hoped. The first day back from the long Labor Day holiday weekend here in the U.S., as everyone knows, witnessed two huge stories dominating technology industry news-Verizon finally mustered the financial resources and Vodafone finally agreed to allow Verizon to purchase the Vodafone 45 percent stake it has held in Verizon Wireless for $130 billion, and Microsoft is forking over $7.2 billion to purchase the device business and patents of Nokia. It has been pointed out over the years, as the problem of IP address exhaust became apparent and IPv6 emerged as the solution, that there was going to be a demonstrable "fast mover" advantage for countries and companies that transitioned quickly. According to a new analysis by Logicalis US, an international IT solutions and managed services provider, the U.S. currently ranks seventh among the world's nations in terms of its readiness for IPv6, and to employ an old expression it needs to "get with the program."
