Varonis Warns Organizations Against Salami Attacks in the Coming Year

In today’s cyber world, the amount of information people put out on the Web makes them more vulnerable for attacks than ever. The warning from Varonis points to Salami Attacks, and if you have never heard of it before you are not alone. Basically, a salami attack aggregates tidbits of information across many different sources to compile a complete picture of a person or an organization.

The salami technique points outs the value of information no matter how irrelevant it may seem to you at the time. People that commit this type of attack look for information on a company’s website, social media site, advertisement, media report, trash, firsthand account and stolen items. What makes it so dangerous is the sum of all the parts can divulge contact information such as telephone numbers and addresses, company operations, appointments and other sensitive information.
