 Today’s advice comes from Irene Rosenfeld, CEO of Mondelez International via The Wall Street Journal: “During a transformation, it’s understandable to be hesitant about moving too fast, especially at the outset.” Although Rosenfeld acknowledges hesitancy is normal, she advises it should be avoided, and in its place you should take swift movements towards a goal. Rosenfeld first gave this advice to an audience at the World of Business Ideas in 2009. Now she's taking her own advice to heart during the giant transformation she brought to $54 billion dollar company Kraft Foods which she split in two on Monday. When Rosenfeld announced earlier this week that her company would become two separate entities, many criticized her bold and rapid decision because it essentially made her enterprise smaller, something men in particular were surprised at. She made the choice because she saw opportunity in narrowing her snack company to a more focused market as more people are snacking and spending less time sitting down to eat. In any company's time of transition she says that, discomfort — in her case it's criticism — is just part of the game. “Whether you’re making a leadership change, integrating an acquisition or executing a major transformation, move quickly even if it makes you feel uncomfortable because in hindsight you will always wished you moved faster.” Want your business advice featured in Instant MBA?
