What's The Big Deal With WebRTC? - WebRTC World

Latest Featured Articles

If you've been hearing a lot about WebRTC recently, you are certainly not alone. The technology, a free, open project that enables Web browsers with Real-Time Communications (RTC) capabilities through JavaScript APIs-is being talked about breathlessly in technology circles.
Real time communications is getting more attention in the greater market as new developments allow us to bypass proprietary platforms and easily collaborate. Now that we've gotten a taste of this simplicity, there are a number of areas of opportunity. As WebRTC developments continue to emerge, new product and solutions will quickly follow.
Cloud-based systems have proven a major benefit to real-time communications systems in the past, and the newest release from Zoom is set to be no exception. Already declared a Cool Vendor by Gartner, Zoom is out to prove that it's about more than just the cool factor by bringing in more power to its operations and giving users plenty more to work with.
When it comes to Web-based real time communications (WebRTC), the only thing more impressive to watch than the growth of the overall market is the growth of the different applications for this technology. It was one thing to see browsers used for video calling, but it was another entirely to see this technology added to an everyday Web page such that users would be able to speak to a customer service representative within a click or two. Now, Acision is set to release its new software development kit (SDK) to Forge in a bid to help spur development still further.
