Harmony Ultimate and Harmony Smart Control: Universal remote controls from Logitech

Posted: 23 May 2013 10:25 PM PDT

Today most of our devices use a remote, and if you have troubles switching from one remote to another, and you would prefer one universal solution, Logitech just might have what you need.

Logitech has announced the launch of two new Harmony devices, Harmony Ultimate and Harmony Smart Control. Harmony Ultimate resembles Harmony Touch, and it comes with 2.4-inch touchscreen display and motion sensors. Regarding the motion sensors, they are used to activate the display when you pick up the remote, and the vibration activates each time you touch the screen. On the other hand, Harmony Smart Control is an entry-level model, and it can connect with up to eight devices, but unlike Harmony Ultimate, it doesn't come with a touchscreen. Both these remotes come with Logitech's Harmony Hub IR blaster that allows you to control your devices even if you're not directly in front of them. In addition, Harmony Hub also works with Logitech's Smartphone App, in case you misplace your remote.

Both of these remotes sound great, and as for the price, you can get Harmony Ultimate for $350, and Harmony Smart Control for $130.

PhonePad+ turns your Android smartphone into tablet

Posted: 23 May 2013 10:00 PM PDT

You might remember ASUS Padfone, and if you want to turn your smartphone into a tablet, today we have a device that might help you with that.

PhonePad+ is designed for Android phones, and it will turn your Android smartphone into a Android tablet. This accessory comes with a dedicated slot that holds your Android smartphone, and there's also a 10.1-inch 1024×600 display. We have to point out that display can be docked in variety of ways, so you can use it like a regular tablet, or prop it up. Regarding the compatibility, PhonePad+ is currently compatible with Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, and we're hoping to see Samsung Galaxy S4 support in the future, so if you're not an owner of aforementioned smartphones, you won't be able to use it. On the other hand, some users might find 1024×600 resolution limiting.

If you're interested in purchase, PhonePad+ should be available for £149.99 in July.
