May 23, 2013 When it comes to cloud computing, there has been no shortage of promises made by vendors in terms of cost savings, productivity and flexibility – to name just a few of the potential benefits. But is a cloud-based business really all that it’s cracked up to be? A new report from Oracle, titled, “Cloud for Business Managers: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” revealed that more than half (54 percent) of businesses included in the global survey admitted that their companies have experienced downtimes over the last six months due to cloud application integration problems. The research, which set out to investigate the ways in which line-of-business managers in large companies across the world are using cloud apps in their departments, is based on 1,355 responses from companies with revenues of $65 million or more in the following markets: Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Nordics, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the U.K., and the U.S. Read More |
