μWave: First microwave hack that lets you watch YouTube videos on it

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 04:15 AM PST

We saw all sorts of geeky devices and hacks in the past, but today we have a hack that will make cooking more fun, especially if you're fan of microwaves and YouTube videos.

Today we have a microwave hack that combines cooking with YouTube videos thanks to the built-in tablet. Students from University of Pennsylvania created a microwave hack called μWave, and this hack combines Arduino with a TouchPad that is built in to the microwave door. As you've probably guessed it, the sole purpose of this tablet is to watch videos on it while you're cooking food, but what makes μWave special is the fact that the microwave itself searches the videos instead of you. That's right, the oven will analyze the time that is required for cooking of your food, and it will automatically find and play a YouTube video that matches the cooking time of your microwave.

We have to admit that μWave sounds incredible, but sadly, we doubt that this oven will ever be available for purchase.

Romo dock turns your smartphone into remotely controlled spybot

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 03:17 AM PST

Smartphones are great because they have all these amazing features and things that they can do, and speaking of smartphone features, did you know that you can turn your smartphone into a spybot?

Romotive's Romo is basically a smartphone dock with treaded chassis that adds mobility to the dock itself, allowing you to remotely control it with a smartphone. In order to use Romo, you'll need to connect your smartphone with Romo via audio jack, and use another smartphone to control it and to receive both live audio and video from Romo. As for the list of compatible smartphones, Romo is currently compatible with iPhone, but we expect to see it compatible with all smartphone devices on the market.

Romotive Romo looks interesting, and although it's not the stealthiest robot on the market, it's definitely the only one that uses a smartphone for spying purposes. As for the release date and price, no accurate information is available at the moment.
