Even when a communication service is free, more often than not, it means you and the person you want to talk to need the same application. This requires installing it on your device and logging in every time you want to use it. Until now, it is an inconvenience most of us have learned to endure, especially if the service is being offered for free. But that is no longer the case.

Isil Yalcin, president of Ericsson North East Africa recently demonstrated what the company calls 'Connected Digger' technology. Through WebRTC and real-time video, this technology can be used in construction projects like the recent New Suez Canal expansion. If the technology was widely adopted by the construction industry, it would dramatically change how projects operate.
For members of the WebRTC Solutions Community it will not come as a surprise that contact centers continue to be the low-hanging fruit for WebRTC-based new services. An example of this is the announcement from cloud-based customer experience solutions provider NewVoiceMedia which has launched ContactWorld QuickStart for the SMB market.
If you are not aware of Austrian software manufacturer Sipwise and Deutsche Telekom's T-Labs collaboration the WebRTC-based RTC:engine, you may wish to check in on what the partners have been up to recently. Not only have they concluded a cooperation agreement for marketing and developing the communication solution RTC:engine, but they also have committed to further develop the T-Labs software platform ComX with RTC:engine.
