Why Apple iOS is Dominating Google's Android - TechZone360

Apple's iOS platform is kicking Google Android's butt all over the Smartphone playground. This battle has been fascinating to watch because it seemed to have been driven out of a similar conversation between two leaders, one of them being the same guy that drove the Windows vs. MacOS battle. Recall that Bill Gates and Steve Jobs argued Apple should license out their OS. Decades later, Google founders and Steve Jobs had a similar dialogue resulting in Android, which seemed to be on a similar path but the outcome is far different.
The global pay TV services market is growing at a slow but steady rate, as over-the-top (OTT) video uptake balances out stagnating growth in saturated markets.
The valuation makes Comcast's previous, failed $45 billion offer for TWC look like chump change. And it blows away the $132.50 per share, or $37.3 billion, that Charter offered for TWC last year before being beaten by Comcast.
The phone is likely to be the central form factor, but people are going to carry other devices as well. Samsung has received a patent on a device that allows a phone to effectively plug into a laptop shell, providing a larger screen, keyboard, and more battery power. Microsoft is currently promoting its Surface line of tablets as a replacement for the laptop, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a full blown Windows 10 phone that could dock into a tablet. If we wanted to get really crazy, I could say a day when Microsoft makes a tablet dock for the Apple iPhone -- forget about Android, too many different device styles.
Another day, another database of significance compromised. Indeed, if it was not the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that was hacked, setting media outlets and the Internet abuzz, we might not have noticed. The reason is unfortunately we have reached the point where the compromising of personal information at retailers, healthcare providers, financial institutions and government agencies have become so commonplace as to barely make them newsworthy.
If there's one thing that's abundantly clear about the Apple Watch, it's that this isn't your grandpa's timepiece. Oh, it tells time, sure. The rest is somewhat up in the air as consumer feedback begins to trickle in.
Verizon Communications raised a few eyebrows earlier this month when it announced plans to acquire AOL for $4.4 billion. It seemed a lot to pay just to acquire content to push through its various digital channels (properties include The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, Engadget, MAKERS and AOL.com). But the real heart of the deal is AOL's programmatic advertising platforms, which will allow Verizon, in theory, to spring ahead on the digital ad targeting and viewability front, taking on Big Kahunas Google and Facebook in order to drive up fresh revenue from its mobile services in particular.
With a combined valuation of roughly $77 Billion and revenues of $15 Billion once the transaction closes the new Avago will have the human and technical resources to compete on with other chip vendors across a broad swath of the ICT industry
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are having a direct impact on social and economic development, according to interesting new research from the ITU. The organization found that ICT growth and progress over the past 15 years has enabled major opportunities for social growth and economic revitalization, particularly in developing countries.
