Microsoft, the Looming SmartVoice Powerhouse - WebRTC World

Over the past year, Microsoft has been advancing its new vision of "mobile first/cloud first." Voice is emerging as a key player and may ultimately turn into a key profit generator for the company. Microsoft's growing portfolio and power in voice applications is going to have a significant impact upon emerging SmartVoice companies while telephone companies continue to travel down a "dumb pipe" road."
Avaya recently introduced its Agent for Chrome (AFC), a call center agent that runs on Chromebook devices. It eliminates the need to install phones and gives employees the flexibility of working remotely or at an Avaya-configured site.
Here in the U.S. we hear constantly about the innovations that UC and other technologies have brought to the marketplace. WebRTC is quickly becoming an important innovation because it makes communications truly ubiquitous- and this can go a long way for businesses that depend on communications and collaboration.
So the question for the end of the year in looking at what lies ahead for WebRTC is, "WebRTC and mobility, are they perfect together?" The reason to ask is obvious. With mobile devices increasingly becoming the real-time communications platforms of preference both for business as well as personal use, ease-of-use on those platforms becomes an essential product and service differentiator. It is why the answer to the question above in an unqualified yes, and Oracle Communications announcement that its WebRTC Session Controller 7.1 is extending support to native mobile iOS and Android apps is prime evidence.
